It's the most magical time of the year. It's also the time of year when most stores ramp up to offer all kinds of goodies to holiday shoppers. However, if you've cruised our site, you'll quickly realize it's a bit of a product ghost town. I'm sure I'm breaking some kind of huge cardinal rule of retail business by winding DOWN in December but I've always been about going against the grain.

Where's all the product?

I've shared a bit of this already in previous posts and IG stories but because of the growth we've been seeing over the past couple of months, I'm transitioning Wooly Doodle to a ready-to-ship model where all orders will be on their way to you within 2-3 business days. I am EXTREMELY grateful that so many of you have been patient enough to wait four (sometimes longer) weeks for your items but truthfully, I don't think that's good enough and this model was starting to result in errors and way too much stress for me and everyone I have working for me.

So, all new items added to the site will already be made and will be ready for you to enjoy! But in order for us to get there, we needed to have a hard stop on custom orders and some time to build up our inventory which is what is happening right now. There are still some items in the shop (and they're all ready to go now) but it'll continue to be a a ghost town until we do our next release at the end of January.

Holiday timelines

I've played around with what to do with the site over the holidays and here is where I've landed. If you are waiting on orders, please take note of the shipping/pick-up timelines.

 Date(s) What's happening
December 17

December 18 All remaining orders will ship (Express Post) in order to get to you for the holidays
December 19 Local pick-up deadline
December 30 Shop will re-open (no new releases yet)
January 22 (tentative) Next seasonal release & Ladies Lounge Romper re-stock (with XL added to the size range)

NOTE: If you are still waiting for a custom order and haven't received a shipping notification (order numbers 1515 - 1702) these will all go out by December 18 and will be Express Posted as well)

What's coming next

We aren't just going to be working away at building inventory! I have a lot of exciting stuff planned including some new fabric options for our Lounge Line (colour and prints - YEEEEEE!!!!), some additional ladies items in the works and word on the street is that dads may be able to get in on the actions soon as well.

We will also be dropping our next seasonal kids collection with some gorgeous prints and some of the softest bamboo solids you've ever felt. Oh, and did I mention there will be dresses?

So, in conclusion, it'll all be well worth the wait.

Happy holidays

I wanted to close by saying a huge thank you. This has been such an incredible year for Wooly Doodle and that is all because of your support. When you support small shops you support families and you support dreams and you've helped me take this little hobby of mine to heights I never imagined.

Whatever you are celebrating this holiday season, may it be filled with love, wonder, amazing memories and good food (and wine, if that's your jam).

Wishing you all the best from our family to yours,

Elizabeth xo

As the year comes to a close, I've been taking time to pause and reflect (which is something I'm not great at). It's been a remarkable year and I started writing a very detailed recap but upon reading it over a few times, it started to feel whiney to me.

After teasing you all on Instagram Stories, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. As of August 31, I’ll be taking a leave of absence from my 15 years career at a company that I love to focus on Wooly Doodle full time.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is the handmade world is kind of like the Wild West. It’s based largely on trust between buyer and seller and feels completely unregulated most of the time. Unfortunately, there are a lot of businesses taking advantage of this to make a quick profit. Their actions are not only deceiving customer, but are also devaluing the hard work done by actual makers.

Just say the word. Add 'PAPERLESS' to your order notes at checkout and we'll send your order without any extra paper (receipt, product tags, tissue etc..) and we'll donate $1 to a local women's charity.
