The prints
While some of you may have picked up on my ‘accent’ (which I wasn't aware I had), you may not know I was born and raised in Vancouver and only moved to Ontario about seven years ago.
Vancouver, and BC in general, is a nature-lovers paradise and one of the things I miss most about living there is the close proximity to the mountains, the ocean and an abundance of wildlife. Nature and adventure were such a big part of my childhood and I really wanted to create a line inspired by that.
My husband and I often share tales from our childhood about how we’d rely on our imaginations and our outdoor playgrounds to keep us occupied and that’s something we really hope to instil in our son Asher. I’ve introduced the following five prints with this line, each designed by the talented Ester Fallon Lau (Nouveau Bohemian).
Solitude and Forest Peaks remind me of all the gorgeous trails and hikes that I try to enjoy every time I go back to visit. I couldn’t decide between them so you get both!
Adventure Awaits has always been one of my favourite prints and I thought it was perfect for this release which is inspired by imagination and adventure.
Mermaid Lullaby is another one of my long-term favourites and this version was custom made for Wooly Doodle! Inspired by the oceans I grew up near, I love that this print inspires whimsy and imagination.
And last but not least, Narwhal Symphony because I love Narwhals. Period.
The fabrics
With this line, I decided to try something new and so I've brought in a bunch of buttery soft and super cozy solid bamboo fabrics that pair beautifully with the prints above. I chose to do some colour blocking with the solid bamboo for a couple of reasons:
- It's ridiculously cozy
- It's sustainable and made with a low impact to the environment
- It's sourced from a Canadian company located in BC
- It helps me get my price points down a little which is something you told me was important to you (hey, I'm just being honest!)
All our patterned prints in this line are printed on 100% organic knit, certified by Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS).
The pieces
With this collection, I've brought back some of our popular fall/winter items like our Reversible Beanies and Hoodies and have also introduced some new pieces like our Raglan Crew. By far our biggest seller has been our Rompers which I've kept available in both regular and flutter sleeve options (with a bit of a spin on them this time around).
Here's the fall lineup (huge thanks to The Mighty Co. for providing the adorable mocs and accessories and Ampersand Creative for taking these gorgeous pics):
Flutter Rompers were a new addition in our spring/summer line and were hugely popular so they're back again! The flutter sleeves add that extra pop of femininity and the snaps along the crotch make changing a breeze. Savvy is wearing size 3-6m in Mermaid Lullaby/Everglade.
Rompers have been on our roster for a while now but last year I added snaps along the legs based on feedback from you. I've also added quite a bit of extra detail to these pieces which makes them my all-time favourite piece both to sew and put on my own little guy. Asher is wearing size 6-12m in Adventure Awaits/Black.
Hoodies are back and better than ever. They are a raglan style with a bit of extra length which is perfect for those long/tall babies! The bamboo sleeves and hood are seriously the coziest and will keep your little one warm through winter. Grayson is wearing Adventure Awaits/Black in size 12-18m.
Raglan Crews are a new addition and are one of my personal favourites. It's all the coziness of our hoodies, without the hood which is nice for babies who are still bound to their backs and also safer to catch Zzzz in. These are cut a little longer as well so there's plenty of room to grow. Zach is wearing size 12-18m in Solitude/Everglade.
Harem Pants are something we've always had in our collections but this season I've made some changes. The fit should be fairly similar to what you're used to but the cuffs have been tightened up to ensure they don't drag over those baby heels. Our Pants are up there with our Rompers as a best seller and I don't see that changing any time soon! Linden is wearing Forest Peaks/Plum in 3T and Ellie is wearing Solitude/Everglade in size 2T.
Reversible Beanies are back and are basically two hats in one! One side is our soft, patterned organic cotton and the other is the oh-so-cozy bamboo. These hats have extra slouch for all the little HITs (hipsters in training). Jasper is wearing Narwhal/Black in size 12-18m.
The Process
All our our pieces are made to order and the turnaround time for production is approximately four weeks from when you place your order. Each piece is hand cut, hand made, hand packaged and hand delivered to the post office by myself and/or Jessica. I hope you love the pieces and prints that I've selected for you for our fall line and be sure to also check out our Lounge Line (which pairs perfectly with all these pieces too, might I add!). Now I'll leave you with this adorable video our some of our fall pieces on action!
